What does “praxis” mean?

Praxis is the act of taking your ideas and putting them into action in the real world. Ideas and theories aren’t very useful if they just stay in your head. That’s why you need to make them come to life in the world around you to see if they make sense.

What is Marxism-Leninism?

This is a philosophical and political theory based on the writings of Marx and Lenin. Although this theory began with them, it has evolved in the process of praxis.

As people all over the world have put it into action, they’ve found that each situation they apply it to is different, and therefore the theory evolves with our application of it. Grave mistakes and towering victories have resulted from the application of Marxism-Leninism, and we are meant to learn and develop with each lesson.

Therefore, this is not a dogma, or an unchanging and rigid belief structure, but a growing and changing theory about how to develop the forces of capitalism into socialism.

Why do you believe this?

One of the constants of life is change. Therefore, it’s reasonable to think that capitalism will not be around forever. What will come after? The conditions that it lays the foundation for.

Capitalism emerged from feudal society and created new classes of people, which include the class that must sell its labor to survive, and the class that buys and controls that labor to create more capital. These classes maintain one another but also exist in contradiction to each other. These contradictions continue to show themselves as capitalism progresses, which can become resolved once the class that must sell its labor is also able to control its own labor. We believe that Marxism-Leninism will help develop this class so it is able to maintain a hold on its own labor power.

How do you put your beliefs into action?

We don’t think bad things happen because people have inherent traits like evilness, or that they are being driven by mystical forces. Societal ills are instead caused by the real conditions people experience on a day-to-day basis. These conditions must be addressed. This has been our project in Camp Washington. We offer a food serve, shower program, and trash pickup along with political education that acts together to create a bedrock upon which revolution could be built.
